Step into one of Wexford’s most special landscapes and experience the woodland in a completely new way.
Join Lorraine of Gallivanting.ie for a guided foraging and folklore walk through Courtown Woods — one of the last remaining ancient woodlands in Ireland. This is not a traditional tour, but a gentle, immersive ramble and workshop, where the forest reveals itself slowly under the leafy canopy.
Running from April to October, these walks invite you to reconnect with nature, food, and history — learning to see the woodland not just as scenery, but as a living pantry and a place rich in story.
What to Expect:
Explore one of Ireland’s rare ancient woodlands, home to mature native trees and over 400 species
Learn simple, seasonal foraging — herbs, leaves, nuts, and wild ingredients you can use at home
Discover plants with surprising flavours and traditional uses, from everyday greens to medicinal flowers
Understand the deep connection between trees, folklore, and early Irish life — including Ogham and Druidic traditions
Hear local stories, history, and folklore — including the impact of the Famine and tales from the woodland paths
Enjoy a complimentary sparkling nettle drink from local producer WILDAbout
A Place Like No Other
Courtown Woods represents just 0.02% of Ireland’s remaining ancient woodland — a rare and quietly powerful landscape. Beneath its canopy lies a rich ecosystem, where the forest floor changes with the seasons and offers something new with every visit.
